In June 2004 I visited Ghana, Togo, and Benin to begin a documentary project about African drummer Obo Addy returning to his homeland. The images that follow form the backstory of that work.

The near riot on my flight over - because of a general strike in Nigeria - set the tone for the next six weeks. Wherever I went, the scene was tense. People were angry; they felt exploited. As the rest of the world struggles to maintain itself, I fear that Africa will continue to be left behind. Enter site.
