HEAVENLY WORLD: 25 YEARS OF SEEING ASIA A 96-page photography book about India, Nepal, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia and Laos. The project will be a 25 year retrospect of photographic work of Asia. When: Publication Date/ December 2006 Where: Portland Oregon During the past 25 years I’ve made more then 10 photographic trips to Southeast Asia. I was struck by the way of life, the color and light, the rhythms and most of all the people. The place became a refuge for me. Cities and small towns come to life before sunrise in Southeast Asia. Chanting, and bells ring from a nearby temple. Buddhist monks in orange robes walk in single file down the road to collect food for their only meal of the day. Vegetables are being chopped by women in the open air markets. The morning photography has become a ritual, my form of walking meditation. A time to discover as I walk the streets, wiping sleep from my eyes. It is magic. |
